Site and operating requirements

  • Weigh available feedstock daily, record dilution water and temperature, and have the supplier approve siting and loading.
  • Require trained installation, approved gas appliances, pressure relief, condensate and H₂S management, ventilation and a safe excess-gas strategy.

Tools and measuring equipment

  • Owner logbook, feed/water measuring tools and the supplier’s inspection equipment; gas testing and commissioning equipment belong to trained personnel.

Output and operating conditions

Sistema 8 vendor example: 2.5 m³ biogas/day under its stated warm-climate manure conditions. Electrical kWh cannot be stated without gas composition and generator consumption.

Vendor-specific gas figure, not an electricity rating or guaranteed output for every climate/feedstock.

Gas treatment and controlsmatched setOEM pressure relief, H₂S filter, water traps, approved pipework and matched gas appliance.
Civil works and digestate handlingsite sizedEngineered trench, drainage, exclusion area and sanitary handling; confirm all current drawing dimensions.

Preparation and component checks

  • Prepare the supplier-approved site, drainage, fencing and initial water/feedstock. Confirm trench and gas-line drawings, appliance compatibility and digestate handling before installation.
  • Have trained personnel commission leak tightness, relief, gas treatment and burner operation; never leak-test with a flame or enter a tank.
  • Owner operation starts after documented training. Keep permitted feed, dilution, pressure and inspection limits visible; route unexplained pressure or gas loss to service.

Procedure

  1. 1

Record daily feedstock, water and temperature before choosing the model.

  2. 2

Obtain the OEM’s installation drawings, gas-use limits and training.

  3. 3

Use trained installation for civil works, gas treatment, relief devices and approved end-use equipment.

  4. 4

Commission and leak-test under the supplier’s procedure; establish inspection and digestate-handling routines.

Safety and inspection

Biogas may contain flammable methane and toxic H₂S. No indoor gas-storage experiments; use trained professionals and local approval.

Verify the result

Do not infer electrical output from digester volume. A generator needs measured fuel use and suitably treated gas.

Measurement log

  • Feed kg/day, dilution L/day, temperature, OEM pressure range, gas-use time, digestate quantity, faults, service visits and measured gas quality where required. Gas volume is not electrical kWh.

Maintenance and repeat checks

  • Follow the model-specific inspection schedule for gas lines, condensate traps, H₂S treatment, relief and fencing. Isolate and call service for leaks, blocked lines or recurring relief events.

Troubleshooting

No output, abnormal heat, noise, vibration or leaks
Stop and isolate first. Check the documented input, load compatibility, alignment and connections; keep guards fitted and refer specialist systems to their installer.
