Miniature backpack solar charging

A folding low-voltage panel replenishes a protected power bank during stationary daylight stops. This is a charging kit, not a home-built battery.

Clean panel placement and adjustment

Improve an existing solar kit with careful positioning, ventilation and repeated measurements instead of adding hardware immediately.

Basecamp battery runtime and protection

Use a preassembled storage unit with battery management and the correct output ports. This guide covers selection and operation, not battery-cell fabrication.

Efficient camp lighting kit

Use low-power LED task lights and a separate emergency headlamp. Light the task area rather than the entire landscape.

Low-power personal camp fan

A guarded low-voltage fan provides personal airflow in a shaded ventilated camp. It does not replace safe shelter or air conditioning in dangerous heat.

Insulated camp cold-storage box

A clean insulated plastic cooler, frozen water bottles and a thermometer reduce powered refrigeration demand for short trips.

Measured-energy DC camp refrigerator

Use a complete low-voltage compressor refrigerator with a preassembled protected supply. Build a clean secure station rather than modifying its refrigeration circuit.

Unpressurized solar wash-water warmer

Warm a small amount of wash water in a purpose-suitable dark container or gravity-flow collector. Keep it open to atmospheric pressure; this is not drinking-water treatment.

Simple solar box cooking demonstrator

An insulated box, reflector, dark cooking vessel and suitable clear cover demonstrate solar cooking. Treat a first build as a measured cooking experiment.

Screened solar drying cabinet

Use a screened natural-airflow drying cabinet for suitable produce or nonfood botanical materials. Food preservation requires a validated crop-specific process.

Retained-heat cooking sleeve

A heat-safe insulated sleeve reduces heat loss from a covered pot after active heating. Start with a hot-water retention test before using a validated food process.

Simple evaporative airflow station

A guarded low-voltage fan draws dry outside air through a clean damp pad. Use only in an open ventilated setting; humid coastal weather may make it ineffective.

Portable wind charging assessment

Assess a complete small turbine with its matched controller, braking and support system. This is a specialist selection route, not a printed-rotor survival build.

Portable river-current charging assessment

A guarded complete hydrokinetic device can extract energy from naturally flowing water at a permitted site. It is unsuitable for dry wadis, stagnant water or pumped recirculation.

Small head-fed hydro assessment

At a permitted long-stay site, assess natural water flow and vertical drop before considering an intake, pressure-rated pipe and matched turbine. This is a specialist design route.

Trip power planner

Enter measured daily device energy. Defaults are editable examples. Wh compares energy; check USB power, voltage, current and cable compatibility separately.

Daily demand24 Wh
Trip + reserve84 Wh
Usable battery estimate59.2 Wh
Solar estimate / day52 Wh

Without solar, missing energy: 24.8 Wh · With the planned solar assumption: 0 Wh

Solar timing, clouds, shade, heat and conversion loss matter. A zero gap does not prove overnight capacity, correct port power or safe charging temperature. A 10,000 mAh pack at a 3.7 V cell basis is 37 Wh before losses; use the actual Wh label.

Wind and river resource check

Illustrative flow-energy estimate, not a turbine rating. Measure the real site and use a guarded purpose-built device with its complete operating limits.

1.53 W

P = 0.5 × ρ × A × v³ × η

Air density example 1.225 kg/m³; fresh-water example 1,000 kg/m³. The net fraction is an assumption, not measured efficiency. Site effects, speed variation, generator losses and controls can reduce output. Obtain permission and avoid unsafe banks, floods and unguarded rotors.

Before you leave

A practical planning checklist. Adapt supplies to the group, route, season and local conditions.
